Arvid Nordquist H.A.B 1884-2009

Celebrating 125 years on 4 of September 2009

As a young man, my father Bengt Nordquist had the privilege of managing and expanding the business my grandfather had established in 1884 – a delicatessen shop with an extremely high level of service. My father and his staff laid the foundations for the Arvid Nordquist H.A.B of today; an organisation which aspires to be the Nordic region’s leading trading house for high-quality provisions and includes our own coffee-roasting business and our Classic Coffee brand.
 

Over the course of a lifetime – especially one that has lasted 125 years – you sometimes have to stop and reflect on both the past and, perhaps most of all, the present. My thoughts turn to all the company’s customers, producers and staff throughout the years – their faith has been the company’s lifeblood and is essential to the continued existence of the business.
 

Through the good years and the bad, one figure has played the leading role in Arvid Nordquist’s history – the customer. We feel truly privileged to be involved in and to help our customers’ development. Keeping track of and fostering our producers’ success with our quality-conscious customers is the spice of life for us. The challenge is to be the very best. Best for the customer and best for the producer – and better than our competitors.
 

Many staff members have devoted their lives to the company over the years. Just as previous generations of staff have worked tirelessly for the good of Arvid Nordquist H.A.B, I am proud of everyone working for the company today. It is stimulating to work with gifted staff members and to see how their interaction with customers and producers challenges and brings out the best in them.
 

I would like to thank all our customers, producers and suppliers throughout the years. Many of you represent something that we family-run businesses value very highly: continuity. Working with many international producers means that we frequently use English as our everyday language and it contains two words that best sum up the key elements of this continuity: Commitment and Devotion.
