Around the turn of the 20th century, wines and spirits accounted for much of Arvid Nordquist’s sales in his store on Sturegatan, until the monopoly on the sale of wines and spirits was introduced in 1905, forcing Arvid to focus on foods instead. With the founding of the modern-day Swedish Alcohol Retailing Monopoly in 1955, Arvid Nordquist was once again able to focus on wines and spirits through its Nordman subsidiary. By the time the import monopoly was abolished in 1995, Nordman had grown to be one of Sweden’s largest agencies dealing primarily in spirits. This was due in part to its launch of the first bottled vodka to be imported into Sweden. It also brought the country its first bottles of Australian wine and, as one of the first licensed importers of wines, the company saw wine became ever more important. The parent company decided to consolidate its flourishing wine and spirit operations with the creation of a new division, Arvid Nordquist Vin och Sprithandel.

The sheer breadth and depth of our portfolio allows us to obtain the very best wines from all kinds of companies, from passionate small wine producers who put their heart and soul into every bottle to huge wine producers well established in the international market. Just as Arvid Nordquist combined the best foods with the best drinks in his store, we focus on the full dining experience, eager to pass on our knowledge of how best to enjoy our products when served with food. One thing we and our business partners have in common is our constant drive to be even better at what we do.

We also successfully established a presence outside Sweden some years ago. Our list of customers includes all the Nordic alcohol retailing monopolies, the major duty-free operators, restaurant wholesalers and restaurants throughout the entire Nordic region. We will also be supplying goods to the Danish market in 2007.
